Preschool and Child Care Center

Our History

Since 1992, the First United Methodist Church of Santa Rosa, as part of a community outreach program, has provided an affordable, comprehensive child care program in a nurturing, Christian environment.

In 1995, F.U.M.C. was nominated as one of Sonoma County's finest child care facilities.  We take great pride in our staff, center, and its programs.

We welcome all families regardless of race, religion, gender, ability, national or ethnic origin.

Age Group Programs

Dragonfly Class
(2-3 year olds)

Our program provides age-appropriate developmental activities using monthly themes, circle time, and outdoor play.  Snack and naptime are also a part of our program.  We potty train.  Ratio 5:1.

Firefly Class
(3 year olds)

We incorporate a theme-based curriculum which includes art, science, cooking, dramatic play and more, all in an encouraging environment.  Ratio 6:1.

Butterfly Class
(4 year olds)

The Butterfly class prepares for Kindergarten through theme-based curriculum.  We use interactive circles to promote language and reading-readiness skills.  Our room environment is set up with child-selected interest centers to promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.  Independence is encouraged by teaching self-help skills.  Ratio 10:1.

Extended Programs

• Christian Learning Program: Two mornings per week (15 minutes)
• Kids on the Move Gymnastics Program:  Tuesdays at noon (extra fee charged)
• Music and Movement Program: Two mornings per week (15 minutes)

Parent Involvement & Special Events

The center offers many opportunities for parents to participate and become involved in our Program:

• Board committees
• In the classroom
• Annual Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction
• Back-to-school night
• Family potlucks

Center Hours:

Monday-Friday
7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Year-round preschool and extended care programs are available.

Children ages 2-5 are eligible for enrollment.
