Homeless Ministries Taskforce Update- Bill

Bill reported that the short-term focus group is on hold.  Catholic Charities is facing the loss of several grants amounting to about one-half million dollars.  If they do not receive the grant renewal, they cannot help at Stony Point.  There is no longer a safe parking program at Stony Point.  The HMTF has received about $6,000 in grants. The long-term focus group is seeing things happening.  The Stony Point Campus Study Group is coordinating interest in Stony Point activities.  The Church Council Assets Task Force with the church’s deficit of $125,000 is considering ways to cut back expenses or increase revenue.  There are selling options and rental or leasing options.  Through John Lowry formerly of Burbank Housing, the HMTF has learned of low-income developers and has also learned of nonprofits in other counties in the state who have programs for housing the homeless.

There was no New Business.
