Bill Dornbush's Album

Photos and memories by Bill Dornbush

The flood was caused by gophers undermining the canal. We heard that there are other places where this is still happening. More floods in the future??

The Fernley Senior Citizens Center sold these bumper stickers for $1. We met and ate at the senior center, and received great welcome from them.

This is the floor in the large bathroom, where we laid a new tile floor.

3

This may seem like no big deal, but the Ramirez family had one toilet for 6 people before we installed this new toilet for them. Those who know me know how much I loved working on plumbing ;-)

5

We laid tile in this coat closet, too.

6

Paul and Andrea laid this tile around the fireplace, and I grouted it and installed the molding that John cut to fit. Kay later finished it off by caulking around the molding. Lots of things were team efforts like this.

7

This is the small bathroom after we laid and grouted the tile. We also installed the drywall, but we didn't have time to also tape and mud it to make the room complete. We hope that another VIM team will have time to finish this work.

8

Complete with toilet that we relocated from the other bathroom.

10

The wall finish was unique. This photo does not do them justice. The walls were finished with three coats of different colored plaster texture.

11

This is what we found as we prepared to start work.

13

Note the carpet strips that were laid so that they wouldn't have to walk on the bare wood subfloor.

This bath had no toilet when we arrived, so the family of six: mother, father, two daughters, two sons, used a single bath. When we left, this bath looked like a bath again. Floor, toilet, even a shower curtain.
