MISSIONS COMMISSION MEETING
August 25, 2008

Present: Evelyn Purtz, Bill and Jennifer Dornbush, Dian Jorgensen, Diane Jackson and Evelyn Schlager

Diane opened the meeting at 4 PM with excerpts from Paul Jeffrey letter and prayer.
Dian read the June minutes and there was one correction to the budget meeting. The figure of $14,389 should be $114, 389. Correspondence was receipt of payment for Paul Jeffrey and a thank you note from the Pre School for the recycle bins.

OLD BUSINESS; Fair Trade report
Sales are growing. The Dornbushes will be gone for 5 weeks and we need to have someone do the restocking. Dian and Diane will cover for them.
Selling Assignments:
Aug 31 Dornbushes, Sept 7 Dian, Sept 14 Noreen, Sept 21 Dornbushes, Sept 28 Dian, Oct. 5 Diane.

No report on the Sierra Service project as it was well covered in the sermon and in the Rose Leaf.
VIM fundraisers have made the following: Old Mexico June 2 $553, Mary’s Pizza July 7 $592, Applebee’s August 11 $287. Opportunity tickets are not all in yet. The family BAR B Q is Aug 29, Donations in so far are about $1300.
Participants are 18 people on week 1 and 21 on week 2. This will be the final group to go to Fernley. There will be mostly painting, flooring etc. Then people can move back into their homes.

The 2008-2009 budget adjustment was that pledges went up 3.6% so the apportionments will increase 3.6% and will go to World Service.

Diane will keep the bulletin board updated and Noreen will keep the Roseleaf updated. Connie Bergquist will keep the web page while Bill is gone.

No other business. The meeting was adjourned at 5PM. Our next meeting will be Monday, October 13, 2008.
