Our final work day and time together as a team!!
So much went on today. The morning started with a fun surprise for me. The team awarded me with 5 minutes which were about me. Bill Croker acted as master of cermonies. First I was presented with a bob the builder hat. Then my own toolkit complete with nails and tools. He commented that he was not sure what I would do with the actual tools as I had loaned my bags to Bryan all week proving I just drive around from donut shop to coffee house and then on to lunch :-)
They presented me with tissue for all those who cry when I give them the redirect, ear plugs for when the teams whine, an extension stick so I can mark the flaws easier without a ladder, and a roll of blue tape for the finish marking so I dont leave marks.
I appreciated the night out and dinner with Lynne for when I get back home. Thank you all.
All the teams that had completed their projects joined the teams who still had work to do. Norm's and the Dornbush teams workjed together so the Long family can move in next week. Norm and company stayed late into the day to make sure the promise of moving in happened.
Pauls team joined the Croker team and we did complete the goals and made the job weather tight. The Croker team also worked until quite late to guarantee that they met all their own personal goals for the homeowner.
Walker team not only completed their project but were able to eat a meal preprared by the Dixon family and then come join us at the Fosters for a good bye celebration they prepared for all teams interested (15 plus of us). Way to take one for the team.
Gary Bunas was in great shape on his job until they realized the concrete was on will call and never ordered for delivery. They could have finished in a couple of hours but ended up working until late in the day.
Brian Gephardt really wanted to see his job completed. They by the end of two weeks ahd hung 90% of a 2500 sf house. The ceilings were low so every sheet had to be cut. The walls were lopsided, not plumb, not framed on any known centers so 12sheets had to be used to try to get most of the nailing correct. What a job and I know his crew will be thankful to never hang another sheet of gyp board.
On the last night in Mississippi Doug was kind enough to share his special evening with Bryan and I. Doug being the affecianado of fine food and great music that he is had an incredible evening planned for himself. Bryan and I jumped at the chance to share it with him. We went to a restaurant in New Orleans that Doug had researched. The food was incredible. Shrimp, Crab,Duck and Drum fish were on our plates. We shared the food and conversation. We then went to a blues club (a personal longt time goal of my own) and listened to some great music. We smoked a fine cigar and really enjoyed sharing the events of the week. We all described our highs and lows for the week. A perfect end to a perfect two weeks of hard work.
