Thursday on week two.

Our week is coming to a close. The teams are really starting to focus and worry about what they will really get accomplished. At this point we all want to get as far as possible. We were told that the camp seashore facility will be closing in two weeks. The families we are helping may not have other teams arriving to help. Big Bob and Karen will be leaving so no guarantees. We all are trying to tie up the loose ends on our jobs.

The Dornbush's finished up at the Fosters so they helped a deaf mute couple move out of their home today. The family was losing their fema housing and if they do not move out today they will lose all of their possesions they have gained since Katrina.

Norms job had the Dornbush team join theirs and move ahead on finishing up the Long Residence. The floors are looking good with the help of Chris, Madeleine, Bill D and Jennifer. The rest of the teams worked on bathroom flooring and tub surrounds.

Brian Gephardt and his team have really pulled together and gone after the work load on thier site. The job has been nothing but sheetrocking. It has been hard but they can see the light at the end of the tunnel. most of the house is hung and they are taping and mudding as they go. it should be complete by the time we leave on friday.

Bill Croker will be joined tomorrow by Paul Desideri's team as Robbie Gowan's is complete as of today. That makes two families home so far since we started here. It is an incredible job they dod out there the past two weeks. They were rewarded with a lunch the owner provided today.

Bill Croker out at his job passed his framing inspection and started plywood on the exterior of the house. Tomorrow he is trying to have the roof completed, the windows and doors installed, and tyvekked. The home owner is so tickled that she will soon be able to live in her home again. Her husband sleeps at the home every day even though it is unliveable. He says he cant sleep anywhere us.

The Walker team is hard at work finishing up the Dixon house. The tall ceilings make the job harder than usual. Bill W had outlawed aluminum ladders on his job after he had fallen last week and landed on a screw gun. All the good ladders wer eout today so he loaded up 5 aluminum ladders in my truck for his jobsite. I delivered the ladders to the job but he was out grabbing materials. In his absence I had decided to pay homage to his past experience with the aluminum ladder. If you look at the photos you will see my artwork in his honor. When he came back later and saw my tombstone, halloween cross and ladder arraingement he decided to add a little something. The photo is of Bill lying on the ground holding a drill. Without the back story the photo would make little sense.

Gary Bunas is preparing for his concrete pour on friday. His team is working hard to make the deadline for the homeowner on his site. She to is losing her fema housing but needs our help so she can final her house and get a certificate of occupancy to be allowed to live in her house. She has been very kind and thankful for all we are doing.

Today the bridge ceremony is happened. The bridge between Ocean Springs and Biloxi has been completed and awaiting the ribbon cutting. President Bush is in town as well as other FEMA heads. We were told that there would be great food and music as well as fireworks. Most of us have some kind of plans to go down and enjoy the festivities. Chris, Doug, Alecia, Bryan and I have plans to go down and watch the happenings up close and personal. We ended up on the top floor of the Isle of Capris Hotel garage which had a live band and a great view of the fireworks. After we ate at the buffet there and then drove across the bridge. It reminded me of 4th street back in high school with the crawling traffic, loud music and horns honking. Doug seemed to feel I was in my element. We all had a great time.
