Monday: Paul receives a good report from Timothy about the Thessalonian

Read Romans 12:4-13

Questions for Reflection and Application

1. What gifts do you receive from other members of the body of Christ? 

2. What gifts do you offer?

3. Notice how biblical love is not an emotion but an

action.  What actions might you take in love today?

Prayer Focus

Pray in gratitude for the gift of other members of the body of Christ in your life.


Tuesday: You are a part of the body of Christ.  This is not by your action but by God’s gracious gift and calling.  Appreciate the diverse gifts God has given to others.

Read 1 Corinthians 12:27-31

Questions for Reflection and Application

1. As you read through the list of gifts God has given to the body of Christ who in our church comes to mind for each one?

2. What greater gifts might you desire?

Prayer Focus

Pray for the people you identified in number 1 above.  Pray to receive even greater gifts that you might offer to the body of Christ.


Wednesday: The ultimate gift of Life Together is love. Love is the Divine reality of all genuine Christian community. When

contemplating biblical love, it helps to think about how love acts rather than how love feels.

Read 1 Corinthians 13

Questions for Reflection and Application

1. Gifts in the community are a blessing, but love is

2. What act of love (see verses 4-7) do you find most

     challenging?  Why?

Prayer Focus

Pray through verses 4-7 asking God to create this kind of love in you.


Thursday: Jesus prays that we might be one.  Our unity is

essential for the world to believe – it is testimony that our life

together is in and through Jesus Christ.

Read John 17:20-26

1. Do you accept other members of the church as one with you through Jesus?

2. How might you better manifest your unity with others that the others might believe?

Pray for the unity of the church as a divine gift of God to be



Friday: Paul letters give us a glimpse of early life together in Christian community.  Notice how Paul encourages and prayers for his brothers and sisters in Christ.
