"Only Love,' our 2010 Advent theme, will be highlighted by three extraordinary collaborative performances at our Stony Point Campus. Created by Randy Vader and Jay Rouse, "Only Love" tells the ancient story of the birth of God’s son, using familiar scripture and carols, but in wholly contemporary ways. Rouse and Vader’s creative and vibrant musical score (completed 2009) features our 50-voice Christmas Singers, and is anchored by our Praise Band plus several solo orchestral instruments.
Interspersed within the Cantata are three dramatic scenes which show how a grandfather teaches his pre-teen grandson about the deeper meanings of Christmas. The 12 musical movements are moved along with the help of narrators and solo singers, and the whole show is visually enhanced by an artistic montage of video images, that you will see projected on our big screen.
This concert experience is appropriate for the whole family, but childcare is suggested and will be provided for children 5 and under. The major expenses of this production are underwritten by the memorial funds provided in honor of John Bridgwater and John Harvey. Your free-will offering is welcomed and will benefit FUMC Music Ministry programs.
