Homeless Ministries Task Force – Long Range SubTeam
Minutes for March 9, 2017
Attendees: Mary Brunet, Blake Busick, Jennifer Dornbush, Bill Dornbush
We agreed that the long range plan should focus on the Housing First model, that is with low income housing and services.
Our goal would be to both be a ministry of the church and to generate income from our Stony Point property to help balance the budget and pay the mortgage. We would aim to generate income and housing no later than 2023.
We discussed possible partners to help us. Blake has several groups who have contacted him about developing the property, and Bill noted that he was attempting to contact Burbank Housing.
We will contact developer partners and ask for “broad strokes” of what they would suggest we do to provide low income housing. Blake will contact the developers who have contacted him, and Bill will contact Burbank Housing.
We will develop a new Stony Point Master Plan with others such as Stony Point Campus Study Group and Trustees that will meet both our needs and community needs.
We will consider including commercial sites as part of the development, such as shops in the first floor and housing above.
We will contact Catholic Charities Santa Rosa to understand what they believe the need is from their perspective for low income housing.
We will look for opportunities like Circles, and Accompaniment Teams, to help our tenants by providing our “social capital” to help them prosper.
