Finance Committee, March 11, 2015

 

Present:  Greg Roth (Chair), Mary Brunet, Jack Dupre, Marjorie Noble, Larry Schmidt, Bill Stephens, Larry Thompson, Nadine Walsworth, Claudia Ward (Trustee), Heather Young and Steve Zwick.  

Absent:  Ryan Comiskey

 

Greg Roth called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., beginning with a scripture reading and a prayer.

 

Approval of Minutes

Steve Zwick moved and Jack Dupre seconded to approve the February 2015 Finance Committee meeting minutes.  The motion was passed unanimously. 

 

Finance Report

Larry Schmidt reviewed the financial statements for February 2015.  During the month the main checking account balance rose by $15,386.76 to a new balance of $73,525.41.  The operating fund balance increased by $10,754.62 to a new balance of $27,217.93. 

 

Year-to-date (YTD) pledges and gifts were $114,404.96, which is 98.24% of the YTD budgeted amount.  Total YTD income was $140,105.33, which is 99.78% of the YTD budgeted amount.  YTD total expenses were $127,183.27 which is 95.24% of the YTD budgeted amount.  Overall, YTD total income has exceeded YTD total expenses by $12,922.06.

 

Larry Schmidt made a motion and Steve Zwick seconded a motion to approve two fundraisers: the youth fundraiser pancake breakfast on April 12th and 19th & the Community Garden Sale on April 19th & 26th. Each event will be schedule one Sunday at Stony Point and one Sunday at the Montgomery campus. Of the two events on the 19th, one will be at Stony Point and the other at the Montgomery Campus. The motion was approved unanimously.

 

Mary Brunet reported that all annual statistical reports to the conference are completed. She also reported that an independent audit firm has been contacted and the 2014 compilation, required by the Bank of the West as a condition of the church’s mortgage, is underway.

 

 

Other Business

Heather Young proposed quarterly reports that she is willing the compile. These would be summaries of the Church’s financial position, available to the congregation and would be easily understood. The reports would be available on FUMC’s website, in the Roseleaf, at information tables and perhaps as a bulletin insert.

 

The meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m. with a prayer by Marjorie Noble.
