Week of February 7, 2016
This week let us awaken to the beauty and joy of God.
Monday: The Transfiguration of Jesus awakens us to the glory of God. Jesus is not just our moral example; he also reveals to us the awesome splendor of God.
Read Luke 9:28-36 Questions for Reflection and Application
What of God’s beauty, holiness, joy and splendor do you see on the face of Christ?
If you can see God’s glory, how might that effect your experience of joy as you go about your life today.
Pray that God would embrace you and fill you with same joy that is shared between the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Tuesday: Moses’ transfigured face revealed his encounter with the glory and presence of God. When you experience the joy and wonder of God it is difficult to conceal.
Read Exodus 34:29-35 Questions for Reflection and Application
How close is your relationship with God? Can people read it on your face?
What kind of an encounter with God would make your face radiant? Is there anything keeping you from such an encounter? What can you do about that?
Pray that your communion with God may be as close as it ever has been.
Wednesday: Paul had yesterday’s text in mind when he wrote to the Corinthians in today’s passage. With unveiled faces we see the glory of God and are changed.
Read 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 Questions for Reflection and Application
How do you veil God’s glory in you life? – e.g. anxiety, defensiveness, mistrust, doubt, fear. If you were to drop the veil how would your relationships and witness be different?
Pray to drop the veil and more greatly reflect the Lord’s glory through your life.
Thursday: Christ is the image of God and the light of the world. As his light shines in our hearts we reveal his majesty.
Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-6 Questions for Reflection and Application
How did the light of Christ first break through to you?
How is God’s glory and majesty an encouragement to you when you are discouraged? What spiritual practices can you engage to keep daily focus on God’s splendor?
Pray for more of Christ’s light to shine through as you engage in the ordinary activities of your day.
Friday: God is great and worthy of our praise.
