Creative Arts Ministries
At First United Methodist Church of Santa Rosa, we support a diverse and first-rate creative arts program, as is especially exemplified by our long-standing history of excellent church music offerings. In addition, regular worship dramas enhance our services, seasonal theatrical shows (produced either at our modern Stony Point Community Worship Center or our traditional “Montgomery Stage” in Fellowship Hall at our Montgomery campus) uplift and entertain our audiences, and special visual art showcases and campus display centers enrich the life of our church family. The Montgomery campus sanctuary was beautifully remodeled during the fall of 2006, which further supports our work as well as the many community music and theater groups from throughout Sonoma County that come here for their rehearsals and performances.
A group has emerged to help administer our creative arts programs. Known as the Creative Arts Ministry Advisory Board (CAMAB), its vision statement reads, “To use the creative arts in worship and outreach to help people grow closer to God.”
Our church supports 5 dedicated and talented Creative Arts staffers. They are:
- our full-time Director of Creative Arts Ministries Doug Albertson,
- our Montgomery Music Associate Colleen O’Malley,
- our Stony Point Music Associate Ian Riggle,
- our Children’s Accompanist and Worship Pianist Nancy Robinson,
- our Coordinator of Children's Creative Arts Elizabeth Walton.
The Montgomery campus has a 33 rank Schoenstein pipe organ which is one of the largest in northern California. Our pipe organ is featured at Sunday services and at special performances.
We heartily welcome participation from creative artists who wish to glorify God in their work – whether they come from within our own church family or from within our greater Sonoma County circle of friends.
