NOTES FOR OLDER ADULT MINISTRY JANUARY 11, 2012 MEETING

FIRST TOPIC: REVIEW OF DECEMBER CHRISTMAS LIGHT TRIP

Everyone who participated enjoyed the trip which combined the Wednesday night advent soup meal with a bus tour of Christmas lights. Thunderstar Bus provided the luxury bus in exchange for a $300.00 account to be set up to honor Calvin Albright , a former beloved employee of the company and member of FUMC who has passed away.

The singing, cookies and water enhanced the experience.  It was suggested using the microphone for singing so the back of the bus could hear.  No Albright family members were present. Patti offered to write a short article about the trip for the Roseleaf.  There will be some research done for alternative transportation such as the Rosie bus which may be less expensive.  We came back later than expected, so determining the route ahead of time may be beneficial. There will be more discussion regarding making this a yearly event.  The bus was full so there was a good turnout.

SECOND TOPIC: FEBRUARY VALENTINE JUST FOR FUN TRIP

Pam Lloyd organizer.  Pam will call Summerfield Theater regarding group rates.  It was decided to see a morning movie and have lunch at Mary’s next door. Call Mary’s to see if they will set aside group tables for about 20 people. Flyers need to be ready to hand out the Sunday prior with more details.  Daphne will call previous travelers.

THIRD TOPIC: APRIL 10 JUST FOR FUN TRIP TO PACIFIC COAST MUSEUM, Bruce Tinkham, organizer. Bruce  will work with the museum and Charleys restaurant and get back to the council with details by February 22 so info can be published in the March Roseleaf.

OTHER NOTES; The Calvin Albright Fund will be put into the In and Out account

Discussions were started regarding the May 27 Elder Sunday. Need a pastor, Patti and Andy will cook, Willie decorations. Videos to be completed.

Bea Harris; Jane Buscho; Glenn Bernhardt; Jim King; Al Turner; Larry Hull; Doris Johnson; Dorris Lorenz; Louise Ann Ebert. Claudia, Daphne and Pat will coordinate initial stages.

Claudia and Pam offered to back up Daphne in taking notes if they are in town.

Bob will look at the OAM website to see how it can be updated.
