November 9th Stony Point Neighbors

  • 40 present - need to keep connecting with neighbors. Reach out more.
  • Note: When Safe Parking started, we had less problems on property

  • Hope for a way to move forward  but also continue to have input from others.
  • Issues still need to be worked out.
  • As Methodists, we make missional decisions through Church Council.
  • Let's keep people engaged, and not overlook any concerns.
  • We have mitigated most concerns.

  • Very positive response.
  • Call from wife Sue Jackson of school board member wanting to help.

 

Oct. 20th So. Co. Continuum of Care-John

  • Funding from county goes through continuum of care.  Recommendation to have representative from HMTF.
  •  

 Visit to Eugene Oregon – Mike and Peg visited (report Mike)

  •  City to look into funding possibility for CHAP
  • Find possible city property for CHAP communities

 

Outreach

  • Revised booklet for Wright School Board  meeting  October 20th  Blake, Doug, Shirley and Bob to attend
  • Need to include contact information in booklet

  • Transitional Community  at Stony Point - Decided to use word COMMUNITY not encampment or tent city.

 

 Also talk about 'those experiencing homelessness’, rather than homeless people.

  • Ameri-Corps pre-build approved, need to be off site by Thanksgiving, with possible extension.
  • Another mission project, FISH, presented to Trustees. If at Stony Point may be higher impact than transitional housing. Requested a trustees rep to be part of  future conversation.

  • Jennielynn Holmes speaker – Safe parking and CHAP. She will be attending CHAP TAC meeting on the  29th and took our list of 4 points to be included on CHAP.
